Membership in the Association of Records Managers and Administrators (ARMA) provides two levels of professional participation. The International Organization offers access to regional, national and international events and technical publications. The range of benefits includes ARMA International's Annual Conference, offering quality educational opportunities in all facets of records management.
The Madison Chapter of ARMA International is a thriving organization. The members represent a variety of industries: Finance, Education, Health Care, Law, Insurance, Personnel, Utilities, Government, Records Centers, Micrographics Services, Records Management Consulting, Nonprofits, and students. The Madison ARMA Chapter features local training and professional development opportunities including:
- Monthly meetings, tours, workshops, technical presentations and panel discussions focusing on current and emerging information management technologies, records management principles and policy issues. Each member has the opportunity to meet with colleagues on an informal basis before and after meeting programs.
- To promote broad member participation, meeting variety includes dinners, luncheons, breakfast meetings, afternoon workshops, and joint meeting with other information professional associations.
- ARMAdison, the monthly Chapter newsletter, publicizes meetings, introduces Chapter members and their areas of expertise and notifies members of educational and professional opportunities.
- Reference library is available to members; contains books and periodicals of interest to records management professionals and students.
- The Chapter awards scholarship funds to students through the Madison Area Technical College.
- Annual Chapter Seminar brings records management expertise to the local community as well as ARMA membership.
- Disaster Recovery Education Committee (DRED) offers information and technical support to organizations in planning for or recovering from a business disaster.
- ARMA Madison supports members' continuing education efforts, offers limited grant funds for pursuing professional certification requirements and encourages professional growth.
