PRESIDENT'S CHATTER
By Priscilla Jarona

Welcome back ARMA Madison members! It's hard to believe it's time to
begin our program year already. Summer was here and is quickly passing
us by. Of course I didn't do half the things I wanted to do and yet my
evenings and weekends were full. Actually, I loved this summer, especially
since I don't deal with the humidity very well.

We did some planning over the summer, and I think you'll find this year's
programs to be a little something for everyone from the basics to the more
advanced on electronic records. We also are beginning to plan for our
spring seminar. If anyone is interested in helping with programs or the
seminar, contact Ruth Breunig,
ruthbreunig@alliantenergy.com
, or Ana
Aquino-Perez,
ana.aquino-perez@dot.state.wi.us
. Participating on
committees requires very little time and helps with getting to know others in
the chapter.

We are always looking for new members to bring their knowledge of
records management to the Chapter. If you know of someone who is not
currently a member, feel free to invite them to our monthly meeting or
simply forward their name to Lori Ashley,
loriashley@wi.rr.com
. Lori will
be more than happy to contact the person and invite them to the meeting.

Ana, Janet Nelson, and I attended the Great Lakes Leadership Conference
in Detroit this summer. Pam Duane has taken over as our Region
Coordinator and helped to put on a very informative two-day conference.
Susan McKinney and Susan Avery came from International to share
information about leadership strategies and the E-Records Research
Initiative Report (Forrester Study). We heard from other chapters in the
region what has gone well and what hasn't. It was a great time to network
and gain ideas for managing our Chapter.
Remember that the ARMA 2004 Conference and Expo is being held in
Long Beach, California, October 3-6. The focus for this conference is
Creative Solutions for Changing Times. This is an excellent way to learn
more about records management and meet new people. All ARMA 2004
details and secure online registration are available at
www.arma.org/conference
. Hotel rooms are filling up quickly, so be sure to
make your reservations now. Complete housing details are available at
www.arma.org/conference/lodgingtravel/index.cfm
.
I look forward to seeing everyone at our September meeting.
