now over. Time seems to be flying by.

We had our first Chapter meeting on Tuesday, September 13, right before the
international conference in Chicago. Helen Flores, CRM, came out of her retirement
and gave an excellent talk on how we can promote and raise interest in our
organizations' records management programs. For those of you who know Helen,
she is not one who will put anyone to sleep. Her talk was very animated and well-
received. She presented some excellent suggestions and examples of what she did to
promote her records management program at the DNR and provided some nice
handouts that we could use as examples to promote our own programs. It is always
a pleasure to see some of our members that, although somewhat retired from the
profession, are not totally removed from it and are still keeping on top of what is
going on in our field.

For those of you who had a chance to go to the ARMA International Conference in
Chicago, I hope that you enjoyed it and learned as much as I did. As a first-time
attendee, this was quite an experience for me, one that I hope to have the opportunity
to repeat. There were so many educational opportunities and not enough time to
attend all of them. For those of you interested in looking at the handouts and
PowerPoint presentations from some of the sessions, ARMA has made them
available at the following website:

Whoever said records managers were boring has never hung out with fellow
"ARMAnites." I had the opportunity to meet and network with many of the
conference attendees. I can personally attest that this group has not only people that
have a ton of knowledge and information ready and willing to share with you, but
they are definitely a fun bunch of people and that not only goes for the Canadians.
The conference gave us the opportunity to mingle and have some fun from the 50
th
anniversary party at the House of Blues to the Awards Banquet, and of course, the
Canadians well-known party. Everyone could find something fun to do and enjoy.
