PRESIDENT'S BLOG
By Ana Aquino-Pérez
The Holidays are over and the New Year is here. It is time to evaluate the year long
gone and for making new resolutions for the year that just started. New beginnings!
If you resolved to attend each of our programs in 2006, that will be a resolution that
would not only be easy for you to keep but also will give you loads of rewards. We
will do our best to make it easy and fun for you to keep it.

Our January program goes back to the basics of our profession - Records
Management 101 our beginnings. Harold Coltharp, CPM, from the State of
Wisconsin State Records Center, will be the speaker on the topic "Records
Management - It Starts With The Basics... But The Basics Keep Changing."
The
program will be presented at MG&E on Tuesday, January 10. Harold will discuss
the key elements that might be missing from your records program, responsibilities,
accountability and how they are applied, and how records management (RM) can fit
into your organization/companies' strategic plans. You will learn that the very
basics of RM, which were part of our training years ago, are not the same basics
anymore, and you will also learn how to incorporate these new changes into your
programs. Make sure you bring along other people from your office who can benefit
and learn from this program. Make sure to share the information with those that
cannot make it to the program.

Also, remember to incorporate the rest of the 2006 programs, including the seminar,
into your personal RM training plan for 2006. I look forward to seeing you at the
meeting and look forward to your continuous involvement with the chapter.

Happy New Year!!
