PRESIDENT'S BLOG
By Ana Aquino-Pérez
Many of us may already have had enough of winter, and though not wishing our
lives away, we may be wishing that spring was here already. As for our chapter, we
are moving along with our programs. The January program brought us back to the
basics and made us think differently about the way we approach the very basic
concepts of records management.
Mark your calendars for the upcoming monthly programs. Our February program
will take place on Tuesday, February 21, and it will be our joint program with AIIM.
Make plans also for our tri-chapter meeting in Fond du Lac on March 7. Bus
transportation will be available from Madison to Fond du Lac. More information
will be coming soon.
If you thought our 2005 seminar gave you a lot of information to take back to your
companies to help with compliance with the management of your electronic
messaging records, you won't want to miss our upcoming spring seminar on April 6.
The seminar will give you the information you need to develop and implement
digital preservation programs and repositories for the long-term preservation of your
digital records. You will learn how to use the "Three-Legged Stool" approach to
gauge your organization's progress toward meeting digital preservation requirements
and identify the next steps you need to take. It will also feature digital preservation
projects and programs, currently going on locally in Wisconsin, that are using
different strategies to preserve digital records. Did I pique your curiosity? Stay
tuned - you really don't want to miss this great training opportunity.
More detailed information on the seminar will be coming up later this month.
Information will be sent out and will be posted on our chapter's Web site, so keep
your eyes and your ears open so you can reserve your place for this great training.
We encourage you to bring your IT staff and business administrators to this seminar.
We are looking forward to seeing you at our upcoming monthly programs and at the
seminar.
