PRESIDENT'S BLOG
By Ana Aquino-Pérez
If you missed our February program on e-mail archiving, you missed one of the most
interesting and interactive programs we have had in a long time. It was clear that
there are still many areas where IT and records management still need to come into
agreement and that our records management professionals are passionate about
ensuring that good records management practices are followed. We are halfway
through our program year. If you have not had a chance yet to attend any of our
programs, you still can sign up for the remainder of the programs we have
scheduled.
Our March program will be our Tri-Chapter meeting on Tuesday, March 13, at the
Holiday Inn in Fond du Lac. Our speaker for the day will be Susan McKinney,
CRM. Susan is the current president of ARMA International. She will be discussing
privacy legislation in the U.S. and International arenas and how records managers
can use this new focus on privacy to enhance their programs. Bus transportation
from Madison to Fond du Lac will be available to our chapter members. Please
contact Tim Hughes if you are interested in riding the bus to the program.
Remember to register for our upcoming spring seminar
"Records Management at
the Crossroads: Impacts of the Converging Information Sciences" on March 22 at
the Fluno Center in Madison. Registration is available by mail, on-line, or by calling
or e-mailing Tim Hughes at (608) 252-4799 or at
thughes@mge.com
.
E-mail has been our main method of communicating with you; however, some of our
messages have bounced back from some of you. If you have not heard from us
lately, please, send us your most current e-mail address and other contact
information so we can update our distribution list. We do not want you to miss any
of the information or opportunities that we pass along to all of you. You can e-mail
or send your information to Mary Boneck, our V.P. of Membership, or me. You can
find our e-mail addresses on our Web site at:
http://www.armamadison.org/leaders/
Finally, but definitely not least, we want to extend our warmest congratulations to
our very own Pam Duane for becoming one of the new directors of the ARMA
International board. Pam received the greatest number of votes from among all the
candidates. We are very proud of her and know she will do an excellent job
representing the best interests of the association's members and chapters. If you
have any issues or concerns that you would like International to know about, make
sure you let Pam know. Congratulations, Pam!!!
Stay warm and we will see in Fond du Lac and at the seminar.
