Passing the Records
PRESIDENT'S BLOG
By Ana Aquino-Perez
Well, I thought my June newsletter article would be my last one as chapter
president. Sadly, because of personal reasons and time constraints from her job, our
elected president could not fulfill her obligations as president and asked to step
down. The board asked me if I could continue to preside over the chapter for this
upcoming year. After checking with International to ensure we are following due
process, I agreed to do so. So, I'm baaack!!
This program year is off to a great start. Tim Hughes and his planning team already
have the chapter's programs set for the entire year. We will be posting the list of
our monthly programs shortly.
Is your organization ready for a disaster? Will your current plan work when a
disaster occurs? If you have not yet set up your Business Continuation Plan for your
organization, are just starting to set up your plan, or need to go back, review, and
check the status of your current plan, our first program for this year is the place
where you want to be. On Tuesday, September 11,
Paul Bergee, CBCP, will discuss
some of the key benchmarks or gap points needed in many disaster response plans.
So, make sure you mark your calendar and pass the word around to others in your
organization that would benefit from the information that will be presented by Paul.
Don't forget the ARMA International 52
nd
Annual Conference and Expo in
Baltimore, October 7-10. If you haven't registered yet, you still have time to do so.
This is a wonderful opportunity to get some wonderful training you wouldn't be
able to get otherwise. It is also a great opportunity to network with other records
and information management professionals. So, if you have an opportunity to
attend, I strongly encourage you to do so. If you are already registered and/or are
planning on attending the conference, don't forget to attend our region's (the Great
Lakes Region) honor toast to the region chapters' members of the year. Make sure
you stop by, congratulate, and celebrate with Lori Ashleyour member of the year.
I'm looking forward to seeing you all again!
