PRESIDENT'S BLOG
By Ana Aquino-Perez

April was a great month for our chapter. Our annual spring seminar held on April 16
was one of our best ones yet. It was very well-attended and received very good
feedback from the attendees including the vendors that participated in the Vendors
Fair. A total of ninety-nine people attended the seminar. Our very own Lori Ashley
from Cohasset Associates and Conni Christensen from Synercon Management
Consulting did a great job facilitating the seminar sessions and holding everyone's
interests. Information provided in the different sessions included international best
practices and trends in records management, building Intellectual Architecture
framework, and implementation issues and opportunities.

Our Vendors Fair was very successful as well. Eleven vendors, both local and
international, participated in the event including four new participants: IBM, Oracle,
Extract Systems, and TAB Products, Co., LLC. All the participants expressed
interest in participating again. Priscilla Jarona did an excellent job organizing and
coordinating the fair.

I want to thank Lori, Priscilla, and their team for a job well done putting together this
event. We are already looking forward to next year's seminar.

We concluded our Record Information Management Month (RIMM) activities with
our second community shredding event. We joined forces again for two days with
Kard Recycling & Shredding to offer free confidential shredding to the Madison
community. The event proved to be very successful with many repeat participants
that remembered last year's event and many new ones that heard about the event
through our marketing efforts. A total of 247 people participated during the two
days, and we collected almost $400 in donations. All the proceeds will be given to a
local charity.

All these activities are warming us up for our final program of the year and awards
event. Our May program, Tips & Tricks to Uncover the Mystery of Scanning
Operations
, will take place Tuesday, May 13, at the MTM International facilities in
Verona. The program will also include a tour of MTM, a dinner, and our 2007-08
chapter awards. So, please, mark your calendars. We are looking forward to seeing
you all there.

We are looking for nominations for our next year's chapter leaders and board
members. Make sure you complete and return your ballots by April 30. We
encourage your active participation in the chapter. Consider nominating yourself or
someone else for the board or any of the chapter's committees. It will be a
rewarding experience!

We look forward to seeing you all at our May program!
